Nociel/Gyze [G-BT14] #deck recipe

The concept of Nociel and Gyze was quickly put together the moment Gyze's ability was revealed. The deck saw some tops in Japan but never made a big splash due to Chaos being a hard counter. However with G-CB07 Bermudas keeping Link Joker in check Nociel/Gyze has become very popular.

If you don't know what Neon Gyze does you should probably look it up... The deck is quite simple, use the Nociel and Rescue tools to deck thin, generate advantage and increase trigger checks to accelerate/stay alive until you get off Neon Gyze's ability. Done right, you win the game as if playing Exodia.

Kinda ironic its the angels that compliment best the gods of destruction, huh?

Notes

  • Play to survive. This means not dealing damage to deny counter-blast (maybe give them 1 so they die immediately when Gyze goes off) and guarding appropriately to last an extra turn or 2 longer.
  • Typically we should have Gyze flipped by 2nd stride.
  • Don't bother fighting for stride priority unless your opponent also has 0 early game. Your better off riding to grade 3 first and use Nociels to plus.
  • If Neon Gyze isn't working or somehow we pressured our opponents really hard we can try to close the game out with Nociel3 and Gavrail.

Cards

  • Raphael is probably your stride most of the time if you've been pressured, she heals you so you can safely take more damage for more trigger checks.
  • Gavrail will probably be your alternate stride if you don't need to heal, she gives you a bunch of Rescue checks so again more triggers.
  • Suriel serves a similar purpose, she's the preferred G-guardian to see more triggers.
  • Nociel3 and Broken Heart
Broken Heart synergises very well with Nociel3's ability; when we damage check a Nociel card, Nociel3's ability allows us to add the damaged Nociel card to hand and the top card of our deck to the damage zone. Every time a card enters the damage zone Broken Heart will increase herself and our vanguard by 2, this is a chain-repeatable process.
  • Sariel has a couple of uses:
    • Searches for any card which you can then grab with the Nociel cards.
    • She's an expensive +1 with the Nociel cards.
    • 8k base so you can safely attack 9k vanguards without dealing damage.

Game Plan

  • General play:
    1. Mulligan for Nociel3 since we only play 4 copies she's the hardest to draw in to. We also want ride a 6k grade 1 and 8k grade 2 if possible. Our plan is to not deal any damage unless we don't have a choicet because we always want to drive check in this deck. We can deal 1 damage to make our Gyze turn an easier kill.
    2. We want to ride a 8k grade 2 to blank an attack in to a 9k vanguard or attack a rear-guard, this way we still get the drive but don't give counter-blast. If you don't have a grade 3 Nociel to ride you can use Sariel to pull her in to the damage zone then use a grade 2 or 1 Nociel to swap her into hand.
    3. A. Ride Nociel3 and use her ability along with other Nociel cards to plus. Skip stride.
      B. Ride grade 3 Nociel, use her ability and then stride.
Use your judgement to figure out which play will net you the most advantage. Attack a rear-guard if you can, this way your opponent loses a card.
    4. If the above went well we should be able to ultimate stride Gyze. Some games that go very well we won't need to stride at all.
    5. Survive 1 more turn and proc Gyze's ability. Deal 5 damage.
  • Strides:
    • Raphael if you feel you need the heal. Maybe you haven't proc'd enough triggers and need the damage space or you just got pressured very hard.
    • Gavrail if you want the maximum amount of trigger checks.

Mulligan - look for

  • Curve.

Strong Against

  • Decks with weak early game.
  • Decks that rely heavily on counter-blast.
  • Decks that have trouble with a 30k base vanguard.

Weak Against

  • Chaos
