Altmile/Brave [Updated for G-BT14]

Altmile has a hyper aggressive play style, the deck is very simple deal as much damage possible and find the moment to all-in for game.
The deck's gone through a number of changes since the last update so here's Altmile/Brave as of G-BT14.altmilebrave.jpg

Notes

The most important rule; ALWAYS fight for stride priority. We want to be the one with a good first stride so we can hit our opponents hard with Fides before they can stabilise.

Card Notes

  • Blazing Sword, Fides is still our most reliable first stride since he doesn't use counter-blast, he also searches for any grade 2 which synergises very well with Deity, Altmile to establish boards for example Escort Eagle+Felax for full resist field.
  • I prefer Luminous Hope over Halbwachs because he doesn't use counter-blast, he's basically a cost-less Transcending/Brave Lancer.
  • Brave Lancer is still played because his GB3 ability is not Brave locked.
  • Realistically we never reach GB8, the game is too fast for it now but it does happen once a blue moon, you can play Ultima here as well but honestly Ultima doesn't get full value since we don't want to play stand triggers; bad format for stand triggers and Immortal Fides resets the field. Its arguable that Immortal Fides will make our opponent drop more cards anyway.
  • Dizmel is mainly for the Megacolony match up.
  • If we don't have the cards to stride we can tutor Knight of Connection, Pictus with Deity Altmile's ability when we ride him and add an Altmile to hand for stride fodder.
  • Albion is used to call Deity Altmile and Damascus. I usually only use him for the first Blazing Sword, Fides turn to apply a little bit of pressure and reset counter-blast.
  • Escort Eagles are for Chaos, Megacolony and Shiranui match ups.

Game Plan

  • General stride order:
    1. Blazing Fides or Immortal Fides if you think you can end - flip Luminous Hope Dragon.
    2. Immortal Fides, Brave Lancer or Luminous Hope Dragon
  • Ideally you want be at 5 counter-blast by first stride while your opponent is on 3+ damage but no good player will ever let that happen so realistically we sit around 2 damage, so our bread and butter first stride:
    1. Call Alectos (call something else if you already have this obviously) with Deity, Altmile.
    2. Stride Blazing Sword, Fides.
    3. Call Albion with Blazing, Fides and make a board.
    4. Begin battle, enable Brave with Alectos.
    5. Proceed with battle phase, use Albion to call Damascus.
    6. End turn proc Damascus to counter-charge.
  • Our second stride is almost always Immortal Fides, for this play we want at least 3 counter-blast; 1 for Fides' ability and 2 more for Livarot+Suleiman, multiple Felax in the back row and ofcourse Brave active. The goal is to destroy our opponent's hand.
    1. Begin by striding Fides and using Deity Altmile to superior call Felax, Suleiman or Livarot. You basically want a field like this:
      Untitled
    2. Septgal attacks first and then Suleiman superior calls Livarot over Septgal.
    3. Livarot attacks and calls Suleiman over the existing Suleiman.
    4. Repeat above until no more counter-blast.
    5. Attack with Fides to reset board.
  • Felax is honestly the mvp here pumping the front. 2 is enough to basically nullify 2 defensive triggers (21k vanguard) while a 3rd Felax should be able to break 26k.  Order is important here because Suleiman gives 2k to whatever he calls.

Mulligan - look for

  • Curve - keep in mind it's easier to top deck a grade 2.
  • Septgal.
  • Felax and Escort Angel against control.

Altmile is Strong Against

  • Decks with weak early game because of the way Altmile works and you always have a decent chance to all-in and win before your opponent fully stabilises.

Altmile is Weak Against

  • Chaos
  • Megacolony
