Notes

Its quite difficult giving tips playing Chaos since so much of the deck’s outcome is based on player decision and never auto-pilot like most decks especially when you go in depth (match ups) because the deck is so mathematical (some players prefer card advantage over pressure and vice-versa). However here are some things I’ve noticed playing the deck.

Card Notes

  • Planck Dracokid is preferred over other starters because:
    • Lots of control decks are meta, Dracokid can be used early to dodge abilities.
    • Consistency whether its to prevent grade stuck, grabbing Close for his ability or grabbing a stride fodder.
  • Chaos Breaker Deluge
    • To use Deluge optimally you want to activate his ability when your opponent has a full board so they’re going minus by replacing their cards.
    • In extension to above this allows us to get rid of resist units. Use Deluge’s ability after locking the board leaving just the resist units left, your opponent will have no choice but to lock over the resist units.
  • Integral Messiah is for Link Joker/mirror match ups and when we Lacus Carina without a way to unlock our board the turn afterwards. Ingetral is better than Amnesty because it soul charges and draws both preferred over the crit.
  • Lacus Carina/Cosmo Wreath and Destiny Guardian
    • Correct use of Carina and knowledge of match ups makes your opponent play in inefficient ways but its also fine using this to simply lock opponent’s boosters at the right time makes this card an extra 10k+ shield so remember to factor this when calculating guard.
    • You can leave your opponent’s back row unlocked if you plan to use Lacus Carina. You can do something like this which could save you a Photon, Mulepton and counter-blast for later:
      1. On your turn lock opponent’s front row, leave back row open.
      2. On opponent’s turn, opponent attacks.
      3. G-guardian, use Lacus Carina to lock back rows.
      4. Opponent’s 2nd attack.
      5. You can extend the Carina play with:
5.1. Destiny Guardian to unlock units, this will give you more shield and proc Crisis’s ability to retire a unit and draw a card.
5.2. Desthergen to draw a card.
Note with these abilities if you don’t have enough guard you can potentially top deck something.

Game Plan

While Chaos doesn’t really have an early game, you actually want to apply pressure. You typically want to open with something like this (2 columns, 3 if you can):
  • You want to play apply pressure so that your opponent is induced to playing cards which then become lock targets when you ride Crisis. If your opponent doesn’t respond then you will have multiple attacks every turn.
  • This extends to why we chose to play the full control grade 2 line up and 6 draws. We’re bashing with cards more useful later in the game so we need to max out the same cards so we have more available.
  • Standard play is:
    1. Ride Crisis/stride, lock some things.
    2. Use stride or rear guards to extend locking, usually Photon is first to be considered because his cost-less but maybe they have resist units so he won’t work then proceed with Globuladia or Mulepton. However this is not set stone play which ever you think is most efficient in the situation and remember that Globuladia is technically a +1 for your opponent so try to make them call over an existing unit.
    3. Attack…
  • General stride order is:
    1. Chaos Universe or Glueball Dragon
    2. Chaos Breaker Deluge or Glueball Dragon
    3. Chaos Breaker Deluge or Glueball Dragon or Altwilder
    4. Chaos Breaker Deluge or Glueball Dragon or Altwilder

Mulligan – look for

  • Curve (grades 1, 2, 3).
  • Any other grade 1 or grade 2 to apply pressure with.
  • If against rush – Mulepton or Dubnium

Chaos is Strong Against:

  • Anything that can’t unlock
  • Anything rear-guard reliant

Chaos is Weak Against:

  • Messiah
  • Victor
  • Gurguit
  • Alfred
